The Red Cross relies on financial donations to support important programs in our community like disaster relief.  After a disaster, the Red Cross meets the immediate needs that families have for temporary shelter, food, clothing and mental health services. Since the beginning of its fiscal year, the Aiken Area Chapter alone has responded to the needs of 95 families, helping 334 adults and children.  On average, it costs $1,250 to assist a family of four following a disaster.

The mission of the Red Cross is made possible through the generosity of our volunteers and financial supporters like Tognum America.  To learn more about how you can support the Red Cross, please visit Redcross.org/Aiken-Area or call the Aiken Area Chapter at (803) 641-4152.

Bank of America - Check Presentation Photo

On February 15, 2013, Bank of America employees presented a $3,000 check to the American Red Cross to fund comfort kits for disaster victims served by the Aiken Area Chapter.

Thank you Bank of America for presenting the American Red Cross Aiken Area Chapter with a $3,000 grant to fund comfort kits for local disaster victims. A comfort kit is a bag that contains items such as soap, tooth paste, a tooth brush, and other basic hygiene items for families who have lost their homes.

Bank of America’s generous donation will support disaster services in Aiken, Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell and Edgefield counties for the remainder of the fiscal year. Since July 1, 2012, the Red Cross has responded to 59 disasters, providing immediate assistance to 210 adults and children who were temporarily displaced from their homes.

This grant is part of ongoing investments by the Bank of America Charitable to address immediate critical needs, such as hunger and shelter, and longer-term solutions that promote financial wellness through access to benefits and resources. Nationally the grants support over 1,000 nonprofits.

The Red Cross is not a government agency and relies on the generosity of donations from individuals, foundations, and corporations such as Bank of America.  You can help your neighbors recover from disasters by making a financial contribution to the Red Cross today by visiting redcross.org.

Once again, thanks so much to Bank of America for such a generous donation!
