The American Red Cross, Aiken County Chapter formed a new partnership with ShawAREVA MOX Services, LLC this Memorial Day when the organization graciously offered to contribute $2,500 to sponsor the sixth annual Heroes Jr. Golf Outing. The Golf Outing is an annual fundraiser where high school and middle school-aged students come out and play to support disaster relief services and learn about the mission of the Red Cross. Donations from ShawAREVA MOX Services and other businesses in the Aiken area enabled the Aiken County Chapter to have 44 youth participate in this year’s event.
ShawAREVA MOX Services is building a well-respected project in Aiken, South Carolina, and the Red Cross is honored to have formed a new partnership with this community-minded organization. Their support of the Red Cross mission speaks volumes in this community, and for that, the Aiken County Chapter is grateful.
Of the five major lines of services that the Red Cross provides, Disaster Relief is one area that keeps the Aiken County Chapter particularly busy. The Chapter currently responds to an average of 10 house fires each month in the five counties that it serves, and its local volunteers were just recently asked to assist with disaster relief in an additional four counties. The Red Cross relies on financial contributions from individuals and businesses like ShawAREVA MOX Services in order to fulfill its mission each day.
Heroes like ShawAREVA MOX Services provide the Red Cross with the ability to train volunteers, stock disaster supplies, maintain disaster response vehicles and provide financial support to families following disasters. All disaster victims receive a hand-knit blanket, a kit full of toiletries, temporary lodging for 3 nights, emotional counseling and financial assistance to replace food, clothing, shoes and medications that may have been lost in a disaster.
