Members of the Tiffany Circle Society of Women Leaders from the Columbia Region attended the fifth annual national summit June 5-6 at American Red Cross Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

The Tiffany Circle summit is an opportunity for philanthropic women across the country to come together and celebrate how their work and contributions have impacted Red Cross work down the street, across the country and around the world. Not only have Tiffany Circle members raised more than $32 million nationally for the American Red Cross in the last five years, they also serve as leading ambassadors for the organization’s humanitarian mission.

At this year’s summit, the Columbia Region was honored as the “Best Overall Chapter” for the entire nation, an award presented annually to the Tiffany Circle chapter that demonstrates the most growth in its membership and participation. Tiffany Circle members in attendance from the Columbia Region were: Melissa Blanchard, Lyddie Hansen, Cheryl Holland, Libby Anne Inabinet, and Bambi Rice.

“The Summit experience was 36 hours of beautiful women of all ages dressed in splashes of red, laughter, gratitude, celebration and emotion,” said Cheryl Holland of Abacus Planning Group. “We had a front row seat to witness the hope and dignity that the American Red Cross embodies for each citizen of the world.  It’s difficult to imagine spending your time, talents and treasure on a more meaningful experience that helping those in the most need.”

Founded in 2007, Red Cross Tiffany Circle chapters hail from 75 communities across the country.  Each member commits a minimum of $10,000 a year in support of Red Cross work in their community.  Bonnie McElveen-Hunter lifetime members opt to commit $100,000 over up to 10 years to the organization.

“The giving spirit of Tiffany Circle women does not end with their financial generosity,” said Scott R. Salemme, Regional Chief Executive Officer of the American Red Cross.  “The community impact of this program is exemplified by the incredible work of our dedicated members.”

The success of the American Red Cross Tiffany Circle program has led to it being developed in Red Cross societies in Canada, Great Britain and Mexico.
