June 1st kicked off this year’s hurricane season. For 2011, the NOAA predicts an above-average hurricane season with 12-18 named storms, 6-10 hurricanes, and 3-6 major hurricanes. Preparation is the best protection against the dangers of a hurricane. To ensure that you are ready when the time comes, assemble or buy an emergency preparedness kit, form a family evacuation plan, and stay informed.
