Are You Red Cross Ready for Hurricane Season?

June 1st  kicked off this year’s hurricane season. For 2011, the NOAA predicts an above-average hurricane season with 12-18 named storms, 6-10 hurricanes, and 3-6 major hurricanes.  Preparation is the best protection against the dangers of a hurricane.  To ensure that you are ready when the time comes, assemble or buy an emergency preparedness kit, form a family evacuation plan, and stay informed.  Click here for our full hurricane preparedness article in August’s edition of SC Living Magazine.

For more information on hurricane preparedness, call 1-800-REDCROSS or visit www.columbiaregionredcross.org.  In the event that severe weather does impact the Columbia Region area, your local Red Cross will be ready to respond.  Real-time updates for any response can be found by following @RedCrossSC on Twitter.
